Subnautica 2 is launching in just a few days, and Unknown Worlds Entertainment has officially opened pre-orders for the game’s early access release on Steam. Alongside pre-orders, players can also preload the game now, allowing them to jump in immediately once it goes live.

Players can now pre-order Subnautica 2 on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
At the moment, there is no launch discount available, but the game does feature regional pricing on both storefronts. The standard edition is priced at $30.
Steam users can also save money by purchasing the Subnautica Deep Ocean Bundle, which includes:
- Subnautica
- Subnautica: Below Zero
- Subnautica 2
Currently, pre-orders have not yet gone live on Xbox platforms. However, the developers confirmed on Discord that more details regarding Xbox pre-orders will be shared soon.
Subnautica 2 Preload and Download Size

Steam users can already preload Subnautica 2 ahead of release. The preload download size is 12.9 GB, while the full installation size is approximately 14.56 GB.
This gives players around 72 hours to download the game and prepare for launch day.

Subnautica 2 Early Access Release Date
Subnautica 2 is scheduled to launch in early access on May 14, 2026 for:
- PC via Steam
- Epic Games Store
- Microsoft Store
- Xbox Series S|X
The early access version is only the beginning of the project. According to the developers, the full release is expected to arrive within the next 2 to 3 years.
The current build already includes:
- Multiplayer support
- Multiple biomes
- Part of the main storyline
- Various creatures and craftable items
The developers also confirmed that the game’s price will increase after early access. Future updates are expected to add more biomes, additional creatures, and the complete story experience.
