While exploring the world of Outbound, you’ll eventually run into a broken bridge that requires Everwood Planks to repair. Since these planks are crafted materials locked behind specific progression tools, you won’t be able to collect them right away.
Here’s a complete guide on how to gather Everwood and craft Everwood Planks for bridge repairs, crafting stations, and future upgrades.
How to Get Everwood in Outbound

Before crafting Everwood Planks, you first need to collect regular Everwood.
The simplest method is to explore grassy areas and pick up small loose logs scattered around the environment. Each one gives a single piece of Everwood. However, this method is extremely slow and inefficient once recipes start requiring large amounts of materials.
The best way to farm Everwood is by chopping dead Everwood Trees lying on the ground. These logs are noticeably larger than the small collectible branches you normally find.
Outbound takes an immersive approach to gathering resources. Instead of cutting down living trees, players only harvest fallen dead trees.
To start chopping Everwood Trees, you’ll need the Axe blueprint. You can obtain it from one of the early terminals near the Fire Lookout landmark in the starting region.
After downloading the blueprint, craft the Axe. The tool works passively, meaning you don’t have to manually equip it. Once crafted, it automatically appears in your tool inventory.
With the Axe available, simply interact with any dead Everwood Tree on the ground. Your character will automatically use the Axe and gather materials.
This method is much faster and becomes essential later since Everwood is used for fuel, campfires, crafting stations, and other important recipes.
How to Make Everwood Planks in Outbound
As you continue progressing through the main objectives, you’ll eventually unlock the Sawmill. This usually happens around the same stage where the game asks you to craft a Recycler.
Once unlocked, the Sawmill becomes available in the build menu.
Open the build menu and head to:
- Workstations
- Workstations – Material Processing
- Sawmill
Crafting the Sawmill requires:
- 10 Everwood
- 2 Scrap Metal
After building it, you’ll also need a small counter or surface inside your van to place the Sawmill on. If you don’t already have one, craft a counter from the Organization Counters category.
Once the Sawmill is installed, interact with it to access its Input and Output sections.
The crafting recipe is simple:
- 2 Everwood = 1 Everwood Plank
You don’t need to manually drag materials into the machine. The Sawmill automatically detects resources stored inside your van inventory and connected storage containers.
Select the empty input slots, add the required amount of Everwood, and switch the machine on to begin processing.
Crafting takes time, so the planks won’t appear instantly. After waiting for the process to finish, your Everwood Planks will appear in the output section.
Everwood Planks quickly become one of the most important crafting materials in Outbound, so building a steady supply early on is highly recommended.
