In the free-to-play, open-world action-adventure RPG Where Winds Meet, players are facing an unexpected menace: demonic geese. The game topped 2 million players on its first day, and now these birds—normally harmless environmental creatures—have turned into vicious, unstoppable threats, reminiscent of the notorious Cucco from The Legend of Zelda.
The goose problem has become so widespread that players are sharing strategies on social media to handle the “roundhouse kick,” “instant kill” birds. Posts spotted by PC Gamer reveal the birds’ surprising weakness: they cannot swim.
Across platforms like Reddit and Steam, players have been offering tips to fellow adventurers. One advises using Tai Chi to “yeet [them] into the water. Every single one of them.” Another suggests the “easy way to cheese them [is] to use Tai Chi and throw them in deep water so they drown.”
Some players have expressed disbelief that water-loving birds drown in water. One user wrote:
“In a game with so many features, geese that can’t swim isn’t something I expected.”
Another speculated that the developers might eventually add a swim animation, potentially removing the birds’ one weakness.
For now, it seems that the only way to survive the geese in Where Winds Meet is to be strategic, work together, and, of course, send them straight into the water.
