Stellar Blade’s Eve Actor Rebecca Hanssen “Totally Wowed” by Game’s Success

2024 action game Stellar Blade has carried its popularity well into 2025, becoming one of the most successful PlayStation titles ever. Rebecca Hanssen, who provides the English voice for the game’s protagonist, the sultry soldier Eve, admits she had no idea how far the game would go when she was recording it.

Speaking to GamesRadar+ during the Golden Joystick Awards 2025, Hanssen called the ongoing success of Stellar Blade “surreal.” For instance, just one week before its Steam launch, the game reached the number-three spot in the Top Sellers chart, trailing only behind Counter-Strike 2 and Elden Ring: Nightreign.

“I don’t think – in fact, I know that – when I was recording it, I had no idea how big it was going to become,” Hanssen said. “It’s totally wowed me and continues to.”

Stellar Blade has left a mark not only because of its gameplay but also because of its aesthetic and design. The post-apocalyptic action title features hack-and-slash combat carried out by android soldiers, with a style reminiscent of PS2 classics. Fans also appreciate the visual design of Eve, giving them a character to admire.

Former PlayStation president Shuhei Yoshida remarked that Stellar Blade “represents more than just one successful title” and could inspire other Korean developers to pursue their ambitions. Developer Shift Up plans a sequel with an expanded world and enhanced gameplay, aiming for even greater success.

Despite minor criticisms noted in reviews—such as the game occasionally mixing “15 years’ worth of gaming tropes”—players can enjoy customization options, including dressing Eve in casual outfits like jeans.

Hanssen says she’s grateful to the fans:

“Being part of it now is lovely. I get messages every day from people telling me how much the game means to them and how many playthroughs they’ve done. I think Eve stays with me pretty much every day, which is lovely to have.”
