Rust studio COO Alistair McFarlane has called out Delta Force developer Team Jade for allegedly using Rust assets without permission — but after receiving what he says was an apology, he’s now open to an official collaboration.
The situation began when McFarlane reacted on Twitter to a new trailer for Delta Force’s Ahsarah season. In the footage, he spotted an explosive device that appeared identical to one made fully in-house by Rust’s lead weapon and prop artist, Thomas Butters (known online as Pilgrim). McFarlane shared side-by-side comparison images showing striking similarities, including the duct tape pattern and wiring.
“Hey Delta Force, thank you for being huge Rust fans. Please remove our assets. If you wanted to collab, you should have reached out,” he wrote.
Shortly after, McFarlane said Team Jade contacted him to apologize. “@DeltaForce_Game has reached out and has apologised. Matter is resolved. Cinematic is great though, hopefully next time we see a Rust Hazmat in their next season.”
The issue was resolved quickly and amicably, avoiding a potentially messy legal dispute. Neither Team Jade nor publisher TiMi Studio Group has commented publicly, and the trailer remains online, but Facepunch appears satisfied with the resolution behind the scenes.
