Minecraft’s final update of 2025 is almost here, and it promises to completely transform the way you play. The Mounts of Mayhem update is packed with new content, so if you’re excited to dive in, here’s everything you need to know about its release and features.
When Is the Mounts of Mayhem Update Releasing?

The Mounts of Mayhem update is expected to launch before the end of 2025, though an official release date hasn’t been announced. Images shared on Minecraft’s official website include the phrase “holidaydrop2025” in their filenames, suggesting a November or December release.
While the official release isn’t out yet, players can already test most of the new features in snapshot and beta versions.
All New Features in the Mounts of Mayhem Update
As the name suggests, this update focuses on new ways to travel and explore, while also introducing some exciting chaos. Here’s a complete breakdown of the confirmed features so far:
Nautilus
The standout addition in this update is the Nautilus, an underwater creature that can be tamed and ridden. With it, you can glide across the ocean floor effortlessly. Feed your Nautilus Pufferfish, its favorite food, to tame it. While riding, you’ll benefit from the Breath of the Nautilus effect, giving you infinite underwater oxygen.

Zombie Nautilus
Not all Nautiluses are friendly. The Zombie Nautilus is a neutral mob and a companion to the Drowned, making it a potential threat you’ll want to handle carefully.
Nautilus Armor
Protect your ocean companion with Nautilus Armor, available in copper, iron, gold, diamond, and Netherite. Like Horse Armor, it can sometimes be found in chests.
The Spear
This update adds a new weapon, the Spear, which can be used both on foot and while mounted. Quick jabs help you keep enemies at a distance, and traveling at speed increases damage. Spears can be crafted from wood, gold, stone, copper, iron, diamond, or Netherite using two sticks placed diagonally on a crafting table.

Lunge Enchantment
Make your Spear even deadlier with the Lunge Enchantment, exclusive to this weapon. It allows you to jab forward horizontally, dealing massive damage to anyone in your path.
Zombie Horses
Zombie Horses are now available in Survival mode, roaming the Plains and Savanna biomes. They are passive unless ridden by hostile Zombie riders, who can be defeated to tame the horse fully.
Parched
The Parched is a hostile mob found in deserts, similar to Skeletons, using bows to attack. They often ride alongside Camel Husks, adding more challenge to desert exploration.

Camel Husk
The Camel Husk is a new passive mount. While it doesn’t attack on its own, enemies riding it are hostile. Defeat the riders to tame and befriend the Camel Husk automatically.
Swimming Mounts
Existing mounts, like Horses, can now swim slowly but steadily, making water travel much easier. Previously, many mounts avoided water entirely, so this is a major convenience for players.
More features are likely to be revealed as the release date approaches. While you wait, consider learning how to repair Tridents, where to find Armadillos, and how to make Wolf Armor to prepare for the new adventures.
