How to Fix the Little Nightmares 3 Ultrawide Issue on PC

Little Nightmares 3 continues the series with two new characters as they traverse the Nowhere in search of a way out. Developed this time by Supermassive Games, the PC version is generally solid, but ultrawide users may notice some issues.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for players to discover that a patch created by modder Lyall for the previous game also works with Little Nightmares 3. Here’s how you can use it.

Fixing the Ultrawide Issue in Little Nightmares 3

Since Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition is also built on Unreal Engine 4, the ultrawide patch made for it by the well-known modder Lyall works with Little Nightmares 3 as well. The patch removes the black bars and enables a proper ultrawide experience.

Installation Steps:

  1. Make sure Little Nightmares 3 is not running.
  2. Go to this Codeberg link and download the latest patch by clicking SUWSF zip under “Installation.”
  3. Extract the zip file into the following folder in your Little Nightmares 3 installation: SMG031MP/Binaries/Win64 This works for the Steam version at least. Make sure to extract it in the Win64 folder, not the main game folder, otherwise it won’t work.

After this, relaunch Little Nightmares 3, and it should run properly in ultrawide resolution.

All credit goes to Lyall for creating and testing the patch. Their contributions are incredibly valuable to PC gamers, and you can learn more about their work on their Patreon. There’s a chance Lyall may update this patch with new features, so it’s worth checking the releases page periodically.

Unlike Lyall’s more extensive patches, this one is specifically designed to remove pillarboxing and letterboxing so that gameplay and cutscenes are displayed in full ultrawide resolution. The vignette on the sides remains slightly strong in most scenes, but this is not a major issue in ultrawide mode.

Based on user experience, this is currently the best way to play Little Nightmares 3 on an ultrawide monitor, as it’s unlikely that the developers will release an official patch for it.
