The Great Taste of Pharloom is one of the longest side quests in Hollow Knight: Silksong, requiring you to collect five rare ingredients across Pharloom to earn a Nail Upgrade. Here’s a detailed guide on how to find all five ingredients for this quest.
How to Start The Great Taste of Pharloom Quest
To begin the quest, speak to Mergwin in the banquet halls of the Choral Chambers. The dining halls are located on the left side of the map. Interact with the bottle of Pale Oil to wake up the bug Loyal Mergwin.
Promise Mergwin that you will deliver five delicacies in exchange for the Pale Oil.
Requirements to Complete the Quest:
- Unlock Silkline Grappling Hook
- Unlock Faydown Cloak for Double Jump
- Complete the Missing Brother Wish quest
How to Find All 5 Ingredients
1. Mossberry Stew
Mossberry Stew is the easiest to obtain if you have already completed the Moss Druid’s Mossberry quest. Return to the Moss Druid in Mosshome and speak to him to collect the stew.
2. Vintage Nectar
Purchase Vintage Nectar from Bartender Creige in Halfway Home, located near the middle of Greymoore, for 480 Rosary Beads. You’ll gain access to his cellar in the basement, but you must fight through a few waves of ant enemies to leave with the Nectar.
3. Courier’s Rasher
The Courier’s Rasher is one of the hardest ingredients to collect. This delivery quest requires taking the item from Bellhart to Mergwin in the Choral Chambers without fast travel, while protecting it from damage.
You can only receive the Courier’s Rasher after completing the quests My Missing Courier and My Missing Brother in Bellhart. Pick up the Rasher from Pill in Bellhart and carefully carry it to the Choral Chambers. The item decays over time, and falling from great heights will damage it.
This quest is similar in difficulty to the White Flower quest from the original Hollow Knight.
4. Crustnut
Find the Crustnut in a cave on the leftmost side of the Sands of Karak area. Access this area using the Grappling Hook on pins outside the Pinstress’ home in the northwest part of Blasted Steps.
Inside the cave, perform some parkour until you reach the chamber containing the Crustnut.
5. Pickled Muckmaggot
Defeat the optional boss Disgraced Chef Lugoli in Sinner’s Road to obtain the Pickled Muckmaggot. You will need the Double Jump ability to reach the back of the boss arena. Once defeated, collect the Pickled Muckmaggot as your reward.
Quest Reward
After collecting all five ingredients, return to Mergwin in the Choral Chambers to receive the Pale Oil for your third Nail Upgrade. Then, take it back to the Pinmaster in Bellhart to complete the upgrade.
