Crafting ammunition and weapons is a core part of the Dying Light experience, and Dying Light The Beast continues this tradition. If you favor ranged combat, especially using bows, feathers are an essential material.
Unlike common resources such as scraps, feathers are harder to find. Fortunately, there’s an early farming method that allows you to stock up on them quickly and at minimal cost. Here’s how to farm feathers efficiently in Dying Light The Beast.
Step-by-Step Feather Farming Guide

Step 1 – Buy Feathers from Doug
After completing the main mission “Life After Life”, the first trader in the Town Hall safehouse, Doug, will become available.

Doug sells weapons, healing items, crafting materials, and he buys valuables from players. Most importantly, he regularly stocks a small number of feathers. You can farm his feathers by forcing his shop to refresh in under a minute instead of waiting for the natural restock.
Head to Doug and buy all the feathers he has in stock, which usually ranges from 2 to 6 feathers per visit.
Step 2 – Run to the Old Town Gate

Exit the Town Hall safehouse through the main entrance and make your way toward the Old Town Gate. This path triggers Doug’s inventory refresh.

Step 3 – Descend the Stairs

Continue along the path and descend the first set of stairs.
Step 4 – Return to the Safehouse
Run straight back to Doug. His stock will have refreshed, allowing you to buy more feathers immediately. Each set costs 12 Old World Money, which is very affordable.
Testing shows that traveling all the way to the stairs is necessary to trigger the refresh—looping inside the safehouse won’t work. The full run takes about 35–40 seconds, and you can repeat it until you run out of money.

Natural Feather Locations

Feathers are relatively rare in Dying Light The Beast. You might occasionally find them by looting enemies or searching stashes. Most commonly, they appear in fashion stores, elevated areas, and safe cabins in greener parts of the map.
While it’s possible to gather them naturally, their random spawn locations make it unreliable, which is why farming them from traders is often faster and easier.
What You Can Craft with Feathers
Feathers are mainly used for crafting bows and arrows. Ranged weapons are highly effective in Dying Light: The Beast, and players who enjoy accuracy and stealth will need plenty of arrows.
Although feathers are scarce, they are essential for creating ranged weapons and their ammunition. Farming them early ensures you can craft a variety of arrows and take full advantage of bows during your adventure.
