Bandai Namco has officially revealed the PC system requirements for Code Vein II, the sequel to its soulslike action RPG centered around vampires—sorry, Revenants. While most of the specifications are reasonable for a modern Unreal Engine 5 title, the CPU requirements, particularly on the AMD side, raise some eyebrows.
Code Vein II PC System Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Target Resolution: 1080p
- Target Framerate: Stable 30 FPS
- Graphics Preset: Low
- OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super / AMD Radeon RX 5700 / Intel Arc B570
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 70 GB
Recommended Requirements
- Target Resolution: 1080p
- Target Framerate: Stable 60 FPS
- Graphics Preset: High
- OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-12700KF / AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6800
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 70 GB
For the most part, these specifications make sense. Code Vein II is built on Unreal Engine 5, so higher hardware demands compared to the original game are expected. However, the recommended CPU requirement stands out, as the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is listed for a target of 1080p at 60 FPS.
This raises questions. Either the listing is a mistake, or the CPU selection is somewhat arbitrary, because it’s difficult to believe that a game like Code Vein II would genuinely require one of the most powerful gaming CPUs available just to achieve 60 FPS at 1080p. Adding to the confusion, the Intel alternative—the Core i7-12700KF—is significantly less powerful in gaming workloads than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, making the pairing feel inconsistent.
If these requirements are accurate, it could indicate that Code Vein II may be relatively demanding or potentially unoptimized at launch, especially at higher graphical settings. That said, considering the game is also releasing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, it’s unlikely that such extreme CPU power will actually be necessary for smooth performance on PC.
Outside of the CPU concerns, players will need approximately 70 GB of free storage to install the game. On the lower end, a GTX 1660 Super should be sufficient to achieve around 30 FPS at low settings.
Code Vein II Release Date
Code Vein II launches on January 30, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X with the standard edition.
Pre-orders are already live, and players who purchase higher-tier editions can access the game early.
Unreal Engine 5 is not particularly known for excellent scalability or consistently smooth performance, so concerns are understandable. Still, the hope is that Code Vein II delivers a well-optimized experience that scales properly across hardware without heavily relying on aggressive upscaling techniques.
