Near the end of your adventure in Grandery in Absolum, just before facing the Underking boss, you’ll have the option to explore the mines. At the entrance, you’ll notice a locked elevator shaft—to activate it, you must first power up the furnace within the mines.
Here’s how to locate the furnace and power it up so you can unlock the elevator and progress deeper into the mines.
Locate the Furnace

To find the furnace, enter the mines as you make your way toward the Underking boss fight.
The furnace typically appears in this section, but if it doesn’t, you may need to revisit the node a few times until it spawns.
Power Up the Furnace

Once you reach the furnace, break open its doors. Be careful not to jump inside yourself, as it will cause some HP loss. The doors remain permanently open after breaking, even in subsequent runs—until the furnace is fully powered.
To power up the furnace, you need to throw or push enemies into its flames. Each enemy you toss in increases the furnace’s intensity. After throwing in a few, the furnace will be fully powered.
When fully powered, you’ll receive a prompt, and the connected machinery in the background will begin operating again. A meter on the left shows the furnace’s progress, filling up as you throw more enemies into it.
What Does Powering Up the Furnace Do?

Once powered, the elevator shaft at the mine’s entrance will unlock, and it will appear on your map.
Using the elevator completes the furnace-related quest and grants access to a new area called The Deep Mines, filled with challenging enemies and valuable loot.
This becomes the third possible area to explore before confronting the Underking. If you’re in the late game, this route is highly recommended, as it generally offers better loot. So, is powering up the furnace worth it? Absolutely.
