After being betrayed by Zafari and her crew, she tries to make it up to you by revealing a secret entrance located at the start of your run’s first node. This hidden area offers several valuable rewards, but if you’re having trouble locating it, here’s exactly how to find the cave entrance.
Where to Find the Hidden Cave Entrance

When you begin a standard run, don’t take either of the usual routes.
Instead, walk downward toward the bottom-right corner of the screen. You’ll uncover a hidden path that’s initially blocked by a large boulder. Break it with a few hits to access the new area.
Once the boulder is destroyed, you’ll enter the Mouldy Cave, which becomes the third possible starting path available while traversing Grandery.
Benefits of Taking the Mouldy Cave Route

Taking this secret route comes with several key advantages—especially if you’ve already cleared the early side quests along the original two paths.
Unlike those routes, which each have a single boss fight before facing the Underking, the Mouldy Cave introduces an entirely new boss, known as the Mushtroll.
The Mushtroll Encounter and Path Rewards
After defeating the Mushtroll, you’ll still need to battle either Rudolf or Gazog to move forward. The Mouldy Cave connects back to one of the two main paths after you rest at the Heartroot that appears right afterward.
This route gives you a major advantage — you can take two Inspirations instead of one before confronting the Underking.
Plus, there’s plenty of loot along the way, including food items that restore your health.
Why You Should Try It
Having an extra Inspiration makes a noticeable difference, and it’s easily one of the best choices for most players. The Mushtroll isn’t particularly hard once you learn its attack patterns, and the Mouldy Cave path lets you choose which boss to face next rather than locking you into a specific one.
Even better, you can still complete most side quests even if you choose this route as your starting point.
