How to Clean the Floors in Roadside Research

In Roadside Research, one of the most frustrating things is seeing customers complain about cleanliness. You might empty the trash and still get unhappy reactions—most of the time, the real problem is the floors.

Below is a clear guide on how to clean the floors and keep your gas station spotless, along with other important cleanliness tips you shouldn’t ignore.

How to Keep Your Gas Station Clean in Roadside Research

To maintain a clean shop, you need to watch out for several types of mess:

  • Dark skid-mark–like stains on the floor
  • Random trash such as cans, paper, and plastic bottles
  • Your own little “oopsie” (goop)
  • Toxic-looking clouds, usually coming from toilets or gas pumps

You’ll clean almost all of these using the shoe-shaped sponge cleaner found in the bathroom—except for trash.

Go to the bathroom and interact with the shoe sponge. Then move to the mess, hold the left mouse button, and drag your cursor over the dirty area until it disappears. The same method works for bad smells, even though it feels a bit strange. Wipe down the toilets or clean the ground under cars near the gas pumps to remove the stench.

Cleaning all of the above regularly will keep your gas station looking neat and customers satisfied.

There are also a few extra things worth keeping in mind:

  • When picking up trash, throw it into the recycling box instead of the dumpster. Doing this rewards you with Alien Points, which you can use for Alien Research.
  • As you progress, you’ll unlock upgrades like Trash Bags, allowing you to carry and collect more trash at once.
  • Later on, you can place Trash Bins so customers can (occasionally) throw away their own trash.
  • An even better upgrade is self-cleaning trash bins, which let you focus more on running the gas station instead of constant cleanup.

No matter how automated things become, always prioritize cleaning your goop—customers noticing it on the floor can quickly raise suspicion and hurt your reputation.
