Drifter is one of the new characters available in Risk of Rain 2: Alloyed Collective, but unlike the Operator, she isn’t unlocked by default. Here’s how you can unlock her and start playing with Drifter in the Alloyed Collective.
Unlocking the Drifter
To unlock the Drifter, you need to reach and defeat the final boss of the new expansion, Solus Wing. This is a challenging fight, so don’t hesitate to start on Drizzle difficulty.
After defeating Solus Wing, you’ll be allowed to explore the remains of Solutional Haunt. A portal will be open, but you don’t need to enter it just yet.
Instead:
- Use the zip lines to reach the top area.
- Locate the remains of two Alloyed units on different platforms. Interacting with each will give you a Prison Matrix.

Be careful: grabbing the Prison Matrix will spawn enemies, so make sure your health is full before interacting.
Finally, offer both Prison Matrices in the Vault where the Drifter is locked. You must offer both — one alone won’t work!
That’s it — the Drifter will now be available as a playable character, and you’ll also complete the “Lost in Transit” challenge.
Drifter Skills in Risk of Rain 2
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| Trash to Treasure | Recycle. Gain stackable buffs by carrying Item Scrap. |
| Blunt Force | Bash enemies for 170% damage. The third hit deals 350% damage and stuns enemies. Has a chance to drop Junk. |
| Junk Cube | Slam down a Junk Cube for 400% damage. Hitting a Junk Cube will launch it, impacting enemies for 400% damage up to three times before exploding for 800% damage. Can consume four Junk to bypass cooldown. |
| Repossess | Leap forward and bag a monster or interactable. Use again to throw your bag’s contents. Captured objects are Bludgeoned. |
| Salvage | Consume eight Junk to spawn four temporary items. |
It goes without saying, but you must own the Alloyed Collective expansion to unlock and play as the Drifter. Joining friends who own the expansion won’t count toward unlocking her.
