One of the most casual and exciting limited-time events is making its return.
Grinding Gear Games has officially announced the comeback of the Legacy of Phrecia event for Path of Exile 1. The event will run from 1:00 PM PST on January 29 to 1:00 PM PST on February 19, and will be available on both PC and consoles.
Based on the Keepers ruleset, the event supports Standard and Hardcore Solo Self-Found modes. Below is a detailed breakdown of what players can expect from the 2026 iteration of the Legacy of Phrecia event and how it expands on the 2025 version.
The Legacy of Phrecia 2026 Event Details for Path of Exile 1

The defining feature of the Legacy of Phrecia event is its complete rework of Ascendancies. All 19 familiar Ascendancy classes are replaced with entirely new Ascendancies, each designed to encourage experimental and unconventional playstyles. The focus is more on fun and creativity rather than strict class balance.
This approach also serves as a testing ground for Grinding Gear Games, giving the developers insight into mechanics and ideas that could influence future leagues—benefiting the long-term health of the game.
Players who missed the original Legacy of Phrecia event can preview the available Ascendancies ahead of time, although Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that balance changes will be outlined in patch notes released before the event goes live.
Idols also make their return, now featuring additional modifiers introduced in the Settlers League and Atlas Memories, while Breach modifiers have been disabled. The idol system allows players to freely combine mechanics, creating highly customized endgame experiences. The recently introduced asynchronous trade system further simplifies acquiring the ideal idol combinations.
Several new gameplay modifiers have been added to increase both challenge and variety. Each area will roll a random number of map modifiers that scale with the area’s level, while frustrating build-breaking mechanics like reflect have been removed. Campaign bosses and select Pinnacle encounters now feature new mechanics, and all unique monsters will enrage when reaching low life.
In terms of rewards, players who reach level 50 and level 90 during the event will automatically receive a Third Edict Mystery Box at each milestone. Players who already own all items from that series will instead receive two Atlantis Mystery Boxes.
Below is the full list of Legacy of Phrecia Ascendancies available for each class:
- Ranger – Daughter of Oshabi, Whisperer, Wildspeaker
- Marauder – Antiquarian, Behemoth, Ancestral Commander
- Shadow – Surfcaster, Servant of Arakaali, Blind Prophet
- Witch – Harbinger, Herald, Bog Shaman
- Duelist – Gambler, Paladin, Aristocrat
- Templar – Architect of Chaos, Polytheist, Puppeteer
- Scion – Scavenger
Traditionally, the Legacy of Phrecia event takes a more casual approach compared to standard leagues. Progression is significantly smoother thanks to the idol system, which greatly increases loot availability and makes the event especially appealing to players looking for a relaxed but rewarding experience.
