Double Fine has finally released Keeper, a beautiful atmospheric puzzle game following Psychonauts 2, where players control a lighthouse accompanied by a lively seabird. The game looks fantastic on PC, but it has a limitation for ultrawide monitors.
Ultrawide Problem in Keeper
Keeper does not include proper ultrawide support, meaning players with ultrawide monitors will encounter black bars on the sides. Fortunately, Rose from the widescreen community has released a patch to fix this issue.
How to Fix the Keeper Ultrawide Issue
The patch removes the black bars without reducing the field of view (FOV). Installation is straightforward:
- Ensure Keeper is not running.
- Visit Rose’s GitHub page and download the latest patch by selecting Keeper.ultrawide.v1.0.zip under Assets.
- Unpack the zip file to the installation folder based on your client:
- Steam:
Keeper\Binaries\Win64 - Microsoft Store:
Content\PaganIdol\Binaries\WinGDK
- Steam:
- Launch Keeper. The game will now run in ultrawide resolution without black bars.
Rose tested the patch on multiple resolutions including 1920×1200, 2560×1080, and 5120×1440. All credits go to Rose for creating and testing the patch. You can support their work on Patreon or BuyMeACoffee.
Additional Notes
- The patch has no known issues and does not add extra features beyond removing black bars.
- If you want to remove the patch, simply delete the files you added.
- It’s unlikely that the developers will add native ultrawide support soon, as the game was not designed with ultrawide resolutions in mind. Ultrawide support is still inconsistent across modern games.
This solution ensures a consistent ultrawide experience for Keeper on PC until official support is added.
