Lost Soul Aside Woos Players with “Biggest Free Update Yet,” Adding 100-Wave Gauntlet and Combat Improvements

After a rough launch, the PlayStation-published Final Fantasy 15-style action RPG Lost Soul Aside is looking to win back players with what the developers are calling their “biggest free update yet,” polishing combat and adding a 100-wave gauntlet. The game, which released at the end of August after over a decade of development, initially received “Mixed” reviews on Steam – a rating that could change as Ultizero Games prepares this major patch.

Ultizero Games CEO and game director Yang Bing shared in a new PlayStation blog post that the team has taken player feedback on board since launch and is excited to release the update on November 18. The patch introduces a wave-based challenge mode called Surge of Voidrax, where players battle through 100 consecutive enemy waves, each tougher than the last. All skill trees and weapons are unlocked from the start, allowing players to optimize their builds for maximum survival in this endurance-focused mode.

Bing describes Surge of Voidrax as a “true test of skill, strategy, and perseverance,” promising a chaotic yet exciting challenge. Beyond the gauntlet, the update also includes revamped cutscenes, customizable controls, improved combat mechanics, and new skins for players who enjoy cosmetic customization.

After the mixed reception at launch and inevitable comparisons to Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 15, this update could give Lost Soul Aside the boost it needs, reinvigorating player interest and improving the overall experience.
