Erenshor, the retro-styled MMORPG that isn’t really an MMO since all of its in-game characters are fully simulated, has been in Steam Early Access since April, and it may still take around two years before reaching its full 1.0 release.
“The initial goal at launch was 18-24 months, and I’m still on track for that,” said solo developer Burgee Media in a recent Reddit AMA. According to the developer, the remaining work for full release includes adding more classes, guild content, and raid content. The Steam page also hints at high-level endgame features, such as horizontal progression, new items, spells, quests, and events.
As for a firm release date, Burgee Media explained that one will be announced “when it’s in sight,” as development timing is unpredictable due to bug fixes and unforeseen delays. His current estimate is a launch 18-24 months from now.
When asked about adding multiplayer, the indie dev said he wants to avoid co-op FOMO, emphasizing that solo gamers are underrepresented. He also noted that he personally avoids early access games that involve frequent wipes and restarts, and he is designing Erenshor to prevent those frustrations for players.
“I’ve just delivered the remainder of the 2025 roadmap in the latest patch. Next, I’ll plan and start development on the 2026 features, hoping to leave 2027 for the full release,” Burgee Media added.
The indie developer, who sold 30,000 copies of Erenshor in its first month, even quit his job to work on the game full-time, saying he “would have forever regretted not trying” otherwise.
