Ten years after development began, Hytale developer Simon Collins-Laflamme has confirmed that the Minecraft-inspired sandbox RPG will have its release details finalized by the end of next week.
Earlier this year, Hytale faced an abrupt cancellation and studio closure. However, Collins-Laflamme managed to secure the rights back from Riot Games, claiming he offered “10x what the true market value” of the game, effectively saving it from cancellation. Now, he is preparing to release the game as soon as possible.
In a Twitter thread, Collins-Laflamme stated that he is “working on locking down the release date ASAP” now that the game is back under his control. He added that hardware tests, legal documentation, game stabilization, and security fixes are currently underway, but it seems Hytale’s launch isn’t far off after months of uncertainty.
Regarding the release date, Collins-Laflamme said:
“I’ll have a precise answer by the end of next week.”
Once the date is confirmed, pre-orders, name reservation, and account creation will begin.
On pricing, Collins-Laflamme emphasized that he wants to keep the base edition as affordable as possible so more players can access Hytale. While development costs and the fee for buying the game back from Riot are factors, the base game will not exceed $30, making it roughly comparable to Minecraft.
