Fortnite quests often require players to track down specific locations or items across the island. Some of these items are rare and challenging to find, and birthday presents are a prime example.
These special items appear only for a limited time each year, so you need to act quickly to interact with them. Opening birthday presents is also a key component of the annual birthday event. Here’s how to get birthday presents in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 4.
How to Find Birthday Presents in Fortnite
Birthday Presents are very rare, but they can technically spawn anywhere on the island. After extensive searching, the best way to locate them is by thoroughly looting the world for floor items.
They can drop from any loot source, including regular chests, rare chests, OXR chests, OXR Supply Drops, Supply Drops, and other loot acquisition methods. The challenge is that Birthday Presents are a legendary item, meaning their spawn rate is extremely low.
There’s no guaranteed method to find them, which can be frustrating when they’re required for a quest. The best way to increase your chances is to loot constantly.
Start by dropping into a main POI (point of interest) from the Battle Bus, ideally one on the outskirts of the island to avoid early fights. Recommended locations include Resistance Base, Outpost Enclave, Kappa Kappa Factory, Shogun’s Solitude, and First Order Base.
Once at a chosen spot, loot thoroughly. Open every chest you encounter and keep an eye out for floor loot. Birthday Presents emit a slight golden glow, which makes them easier to spot.
With persistent searching, you should eventually find at least one present, though luck plays a large role. For example, in three rounds of searching, I found only one present, but in a later round, I discovered two in the same match. It’s all random.
What Do Birthday Presents Drop in Fortnite?
Birthday Presents contain random loot, often including a higher-rarity weapon, ammo, balloons, gold bars, and other miscellaneous items. Considering how rare they are, the rewards aren’t particularly impressive. Outside of completing quests, hunting for Birthday Presents may not be worth the effort.
How to Throw Birthday Presents in Fortnite
Part of the birthday quests requires players to throw three gifts. Throwing presents is simple—it’s how you open them—but finding three separate presents can be tricky.
To complete this task, loot the island frequently to improve your chances of finding enough presents. Once you’ve thrown three gifts, you can continue with other event challenges, such as visiting the mysterious mountain location.
