Fortnite’s The Simpsons season introduced a fun new way to personalize your experience: Sidekicks. These cute, loyal companions interact with you and can stay by your side once unlocked.
If you’re looking for more ways to customize your loadout, Sidekicks are a great option. Since they’re a relatively new feature, you might be wondering how to unlock them. Here’s a guide to all Sidekicks and how to get them in Fortnite.
How to Get Sidekicks in Fortnite

Currently, there are three ways to unlock Sidekicks, with the possibility of more methods in future updates:
- Battle Pass: Some Sidekicks, like Peels the Banana Dog, are available through the battle pass.
- Item Shop: Many Sidekicks can be purchased directly from the shop using V-Bucks.
- Free Unlock (limited): If you already own the Back Bling version of Bonesy, you can get this Sidekick for free.
Peels, the first-ever Sidekick, is obtainable via The Simpsons season battle pass. Bonesy, a dog previously released as a Back Bling, can be claimed for free if you own the Back Bling; otherwise, it must be purchased. All other Sidekicks are shop exclusives and require V-Bucks to unlock.
Since Sidekicks are a new feature, additional unlock methods may be added later, such as special events or quests.

Customizing Your Sidekick
Once you acquire a Sidekick, you can customize its appearance. You can choose features like fur color and eye color once. These base features cannot be changed later; to create a Sidekick with different base features, you must purchase the same Sidekick again. Cosmetic items like hats and shirts can be changed at any time.
Looking Ahead
More Sidekicks are expected in future updates. A cat Sidekick has already been teased, and it’s likely other Back Bling animals may be converted into Sidekicks, giving you more free companions.
With your new adorable companion by your side, you’re ready to tackle missions around the island. Activities to consider include entering a Forsaken Vow Rift Gate, using Unstable Element, and tracking down all bosses.
